Mangata, 2003 Lagoon 43 Power Cat, with Caribe C13 RIB, is for sale at $195,000
Managata (ex. En Passant) was purchased in September 2022 in Key West, FL, and delivered to Ft Lauderdale to Multitech Marine Services. Extensive work was done at Multitech, including structural modifications to the aft deck (swim Platform), new rudder stock, new canvas, engine and generator work, solar installation, etc. She was then loaded on a Dockwise Transport and shipped to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
Owner had a new Caribe C-13 RIB built that included console steering, automatic bilge pump, and a 40hp Yamaha 4-stroke outboard motor. This dinghy is now included in the sale.
This was the second Lagoon 43PC that the owner has had, the first being destroyed in a hurricane.
I manage the vessel from afar for the owner and have done all the deliveries. I am a professional captain and electrical engineer, had my own Virgin Island charter boat fleet and owned a boat shop that specialized in rebuilding and customizing Hinckley yachts.

FAQ
Q: What is the meaning of "Mangata"?
A: "Mangata" is a Swedish word that describes the shimmering, road-like reflection of the moon on water.
Q: Why is the owner wanting to sell?
A: The owner has sold her residence in the Virgin Islands and has no further need of a boat there.
Q: How long has the boat been on the hard?
A: We hauled Mangata out at Puerto del Rey Marina in Puerto Rico on May 27, 2025.
Q: Where is Puerto Del Rey Marina and how easy is it to get to?
A: Puerto Del Rey Marina is a Safe Harbor Marina and is located in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. It is about a one-hour drive from the San Juan airport (SJU). Fun fact: This is the marina where Captain Ron side-skidded the SV Wanderer to dock it and immediately demanded a Margarita in the movie "Captain Ron".
Q: Why was the port engine rebuilt?
A: The engine ingested sea water due to a burst raw water
hose.
Q: Who did the engine rebuild and where was it done?
A: The rebuild was started by a retired US Coast Guard
diesel mechanic and completed by CRC Engineering in Virgin Gorda, BVI.
Q: How extensive was the rebuild?
A: Parts replaced include pistons, cylinder linings,
rods, all bearings, crank shaft, valves and seats, all gaskets and seals,
injector pump and lines, turbo-charger, etc.
Q: Are there any thrust bearing issues on Mangata?
A: The Lagoon 43PC original design featured a drive shaft
with two universal joints and a thrust bearing in anticipation of the hulls
twisting and possible misalignment. Turns out that the hulls are rigid and
misalignment is not an issue. Many of the 43s have replaced that system with
solid shafts. New 2" diameter Aqualoy 22 propeller shafts were installed in
Mangata, along with new cutlass bearings, Tides Marine shaft seals (plus three
spare seals mounted on each shaft), new shaft couplings (to engine) and new
props the Spring of 2024.
Q: What is the cruising speed and fuel usage of the
Mangata?
A: The owner runs Mangata at about 2000 rpm and gets
about 6 to 7 knots using about 2.5 gal/hr, while I will run her at about 2800
rpm getting 9 to 10 knots and consuming about 7 gal/hr.
Q: What is the cruising range of Mangata?
A: Mangata has four 100-gallon fuel tanks. Therefore in
theory, at 2000 rpm she has 80 hours worth of fuel per engine and has a range
of 480 to 560 nm. At 2800 rpm, she has a range of 250 to 280 nm.
Q: What else is included in the sale?
A: Besides the Caribe C13 RIB, there are many spare parts (filters [oil and fuel], gaskets, Hella fans, speakers, extensive tool set, fuel and water jerry cans, fluids, pumps, wire and electrical tools, etc).
Q: What modifications have you made to Mangata?
A: Rebuilt
swim platform, added extra AC receptacles in
master stateroom and galley.
